I began Freestyle Dancing at the age of twelve for David and Anna Jones and went on to be one of the top Champs in the Country winning every major Championshop title by the age of sixteen. I then decided to retire and was asked if I would sell the costume I had made for myself to another dancer. Instead I decided to design a costume specifically for her and that is when Design by Janine was born!

Now, at the tender age of forty something, I have designed and manufactured nearly 60,000 Freestyle costumes. The first ten years were particularly difficult as Lee and I were working seven days a week travelling all over the country at weekends promoting the business and then producing costumes during the week, as well as juggling our three young daughters. Nowadays, Mia, Marni and Milla are all involved in the business by modelling for our website - as you will see.

I am often asked where the Lips logo comes from. If you look closely, it is made up of Three M's which signifies our three daughters' initials. It was originally two M's but when Milla came along in 1999 we had to change the design a bit!!

With my experience in Freestyle and  with the help of my manufacturing team of eighteen staff, most of whom have over ten years experience, I believe the service given by Design by Janine is the Best within the Freestyle world.
